The Locatelli hut is located in the foothills of the Paterno mountain at 2,405 m, with a clear view of the well-known postcard landscape and the most famous peaks of the Dolomite mountains.
The mountain hut was run by the famous tourism pioneer, war hero Sepp Innerkofler, who was known as “the mountaineer”, and is now the most-visited inn in the Sexten Dolomites. This is not surprising, because the Three Peaks are nearby and offer several access routes with different levels of difficulty. You can therefore meet relaxed weekend hikers and ambitious power climbers. Since 2001, the mountain hut has been run by the second generation of the Reider family. Hugo, the innkeeper, is a real character, a man with a pert handlebar moustache and many facets to his personality: Ski teacher, lawyer, president of Sexten’s Bellum Aquilarum club and author of the book “Kampf um die Drei Zinnen”. People love to listen to his interesting stories and share in his vast knowledge about the Sexten Dolomites during World War I. With a bit of luck and when the hectic activities of the large number of hut visitors allow for a few quiet minutes, you may get a few useful insider hints, served with delicious Schlutzkrapfen pastries.
