From the correct skinning technique to what to do in the event of an avalanche: learn more about it on South Tyrol’s first ski touring instruction path in Sexten. Fun with the sport and the necessary knowledge about possible dangers on the snowy mountain.

Emergency equipment and trailhead check, the right skinning technique, avalanche warning levels, risk reduction, estimating the slope gradient or practising the rescue in case of an avalanche: during a two-hour tour, the Sexten ski touring trail teaches you everything you need to know about safe ski touring. The educational trail combines basic theoretical knowledge, for example about the correct behaviour in the event of an avalanche, with a tour of about 6km on which you have to climb around 540 metres of altitude. The ski touring trail, equipped with information boards, starts behind the restaurant Zin Fux and leads between trees and across meadows to the Rotwand/Croda Rossa. From there to the mountain station, you can practise the hairpin bend technique in the open terrain before returning to the valley via the ski slope.
